I am about to embark on my discovery of Odylique from the team at Essential Care but before I do so I felt it fitting to write about a couple of products the lovely Margaret and Abi sent to me last year for review.
First up, Essential Care Coconut Candy Scrub
This product was a close second to Bodhi Rosemary Chi Himalayan Detox Salt Scrub in the Biteable Best of Beauty Awards 2014. It’s a gorgeously coconutty scrub, and as regular readers will know I am a complete coconutter! This scrub smells like a sweet, coconutty dessert – good enough to eat! The exfoliating properties come from poppy seeds, but skin is also moisturised by coconut and cocoa bean butters so skin is left feeling soft, smooth and cared for. There’s also fair trade sugar cane, which is rich in glycolic acid which helps to smooth and renew skin.
This is a lovely product, a great exfoliator for dry skin types as well as sensitive skin types. Use in the wintertime to remind yourself of summer holidays, because it definitely smells of them.
Next up we have Essential Care Gentle Herb Shampoo
A fabulous shampoo and the first one to ever achieve certification by The Soil Association! It has a natural cleansing formula free from SLS, ALS, fragrance, artificial preservatives and salts. I found this shampoo was superb for my hair. I did my usual trial of not using a conditioner with the shampoo and my hair was still left soft, smooth and hydrated. There are some excellent nourishing ingredients including moisturising organic aloe vera, chamomile, rosemary and biodynamic nettle and horsetail, which stimulate healthy hair growth, relieve itchy/flaky scalps and promote natural shine.
Essential Care says on their website that with regular use for a week you will not need to use a separate conditioner. I put this to the test and they are indeed correct! I did not need a separate conditioner, I simply made a hair treatment once a week and applied this before rinsing and then washing with the shampoo as usual.
Overall a fabulous shampoo which left my hair well conditioned and not in need of a separate conditioner. One thing I would say is that I had to wash my hair more frequently for some reason. I usually leave it for 3 days but with this shampoo, I could only go for 2 days without washing. Which is no hardship when the shampoo has such a fresh, herby fragrance and doesn’t have any harsh detergents that could strip your hair of natural oils.
