Regular readers of Biteable Beauty will know I am a huge Antipodes fan!
I never tried an Antipodes product I didn’t like, and the Antipodes Avocado Pear Night Cream is a real gem. If you’re not familiar with the brand, Antipodes are a New Zealand brand that offer scientifically-validated natural and organic skincare. Formulas are tested in-vitro to assess their efficacy on human stem cells in petri dishes. Fascinating stuff!
Antipodes Avocado Pear Night Cream is scientifically shown to stimulate Type I Collagen Production in human fibroblast skin cells by up to 92%*
Whilst I don’t have too much to worry about in the lack of collagen in my skin at the moment, as I always say prevention is better than cure. I adore this cream for a multitude of reasons, so much so I don’t know quite where to begin…
The fragrance, OK let’s begin with the fragrance. In this area the product will divide crowds, but you can’t please all the people all the time. But for me, the heady mix of Patchouli and Sandalwood is an absolute winner. It would seem it works with Mr BB too who just leaned over to kiss me as I typed and proclaimed “mmmmm you taste nice!” It’s an exotic, evocative fusion which when applied just before bed sends my mind away on a magical journey to foreign lands. Forget Chamomile and Lavender – OK maybe forget is too strong a sentiment – but I would plump for this blend every time!
Next up, I love the feel of the cream. On the fingertips it feels deceivingly light but as you smooth into the skin its luxurious richness is revealed. A fine covering of product remains but it’s not a greasy or cloying layer. Personally I like to feel like something on the surface when using a night cream, as this means moisture is being kept close to the skin’s surface. Important for keeping dry skin happy!
The richness of the product means that only a pea sized amount is required to cover the whole face and neck. This means a jar will last you months, Mine is only half empty and has been on the go for about three months! So whilst the £32.99 price tag may seem high to some, it is reflected in its longstanding position on your bathroom shelf.
The ingredients list reads like a dream; there are a plethora of ingredients full of goodness for the skin including – moisturising Shea Butter, Plant Squalene, anti-ager Avocado Oil, hydrating and antibacterial Manuka Honey, nourishing Macadamia Nut Oil, wonderful Coconut Oil, pure Vitamin E, and last but by no means least the formidable Vinanza Grape Grapeseed Extract. Independent clinical trials have proven this extract can improve elasticity and firmness in the skin by up to 16%!** Vinanza Grape Grapeseen Extract deserves a special mention for its many beauty benefits include assisting your skin with hydrating, smoothing and firming, as well as preventing moisture loss. For your skin it is also anti-wrinkle, healing and hydrating, smoothing and firming, antibacterial and astringent.
Finally, I love how rejuvenated, soft, smooth and moisturised my skin is in the morning after a good night’s beauty sleep. In the winter time, I combine Antipodes Joyous Night Replenishing Serum with this product for an intense nighttime treatment, however when the weather is warmer I will use one or the other.
